We show you a before and after of what a few inexpensive items can do to completely change the space and make your home POP in photos! Keep in mind, that staging a home to sell is DIFFERENT than staging a home to live in.
1. Rug
This will define the space. Especially if multiple rooms are in the same area. (For ex. a living and dining room combo) It also can add a pop of color that stands out in photos. Make sure your rug is big enough to expand past your furniture. You don't want it too small and you don't want it too big either.
2. Coffee Table
This can easily be disproportionate to the furniture around it. So make sure it also is not too big to make the couch look too small and vice versa. Also, use this opportunity to add more shapes and variety to the room. Since the couch is rectangular, try a circular coffee table. This is especially great if you have a sectional couch because it fits perfectly between the "L" shape the sectional makes.
3. Pillows
The pillows you use can liven up the space. Use more than the two that come with the couch. Or, switch them out completely with different patterns, textures, and colors. This is a fun and inexpensive way to make a statement and get your professional pictures to pop!
4. Lights
If your living room does not have overhead lighting, add a lamp to the side of the couch. It can help balance out the space and the two sides of the couch. Also, make sure you have working light bulbs. This will help brighten up the space which makes all the colors and features stand out more.
